Spanish developer Pyro Studios' World War II tactical strategy series undergoes a significant renovation in Commandos: Strike Force, as the overhead 2D perspective from previous entries is replaced with a first-person viewpoint in 3D environments. Players can freely switch between three individual characters as they engage in a unified series of 14 missions in Norway, France, and Russia. Characters include Colonel George Brown, a spy fluent in German and a master of disguise; Francis O'Brien, a Green Beret specializing in heavy weapons; and sniper William Hawkins, who can pick off targets from great distances and is an expert diver.

All three commandos will be involved in kidnapping attempts, assassinations, hostage rescues, creating diversions, sabotaging installations, and more. One of the game's distinguishing features is the freedom to complete objectives in any order and in multiple ways. Players can decide which characters to use in a given mission, what paths to take on the map, whether to use stealth or force, and so forth. Authentic weapons from the time period include a choice of pistols, rifles, machine guns, and explosives, but players are also free to use more clandestine means of killing, from strangling to slitting throats. The PC version also supports online battles for up to 15 players in multiple game modes and a choice of customization options.

Commandos Strike Force is a dumbed down version of the Commandos series. It's more accessible, more forgiving and for the right player it can be a whole lot of fun. The focus is on variety and as a first-person shooter the game delivers the good even if it feels a little generic at times.

Events take place during WWII where your Commando team is sent behind enemy lines to help gain advantages for the U.S and its allies through a series of missions that include the requisite rescue, escort, recon and just out-and-out indiscriminate killing. Your adventures will take you to places such as France, Norway and Russia but most of the time you won't even be paying attention to the environments except when it's snowing outside.

You will be able to play as different characters with distinct skills and characteristics. The three Commandos include a spy, Green Beret and a sniper. The difference may seem obvious just by the names but there are more skills and attributes that set them apart, some that don't even seem to make sense, but what the hell? It's a video game after all and we have to accept some flights of fancy to make things more interesting. The Commandos series is trying something new with this game and I'm giving the developers the benefit of the doubt as they opt for a little less realism that we may be accustomed to.

The sniper has amazing stamina for cold weather. The spy is trained in stealth but is far less resistant to freezing weather and will eventually die if exposed for too long. The Green Beret's specialty is handling heavy weapons. He can wield dual pistols and even rifles.

As the spy you can don enemy costumes and infiltrate the Nazi's headquarters. Soldiers and guards of higher ranks will somehow be able to see through your disguise and begin shooting at you immediately. Lower ranking soldiers will always be fooled by your disguise. Those of the same rank will also be able to see through your disguise but it takes them a little longer to react than the higher ranks. If you stand in front of any soldier or guard too long they will eventually sound the alarm regardless of what rank they are.

If you happen to draw your weapon your cover will be blown. Silent kills are best for not drawing attention to your presence, but there always seems to be some patrol in the vicinity. They are very sensitive to noise, but you can use this to your advantage by attracting or distracting their attention by simply throwing a coin. You can then move in for a silent kill.

When the enemy starts firing at you it's in your best interest to run and hide. If you manage to escape detection and find a good hiding place they will eventually give up the search. Just keep in mind that if you're not completely hidden they can spot you. Leave any part of your body poking out from behind a wall and you're likely to get it shot off.

You can attempt to take the enemy on one at a time but you have to get down low and hope they are confused by your sudden change in height. The AI isn't particularly intelligent as you've probably already guessed. This doesn't mean the game is a cakewalk, the enemy is more like a booby trap or a deterrent more than anything. It's completing your mission that is the ultimate challenge. There are times when even the allied AI will act retarded. In one mission you are escorting rescued prisoners to safety but these idiots do just about everything they can to get shot at. You'll run out of med kits before you can save them all. It's too bad you can't issue some simple orders to keep them in line.

The weapons have a very satisfying feel to them. They are not only accurate but extremely deadly. It's great to have instant feedback when an enemy takes a hit. In the sniper missions the blood splatters as the body is literally thrown backwards in very dramatic, if not entirely unrealistic, fashion. The sniper missions are few and far between but they are great. Weapons can be exchanged with the other team members so that you don't run out of ammo during a good run. However, there are some sniper missions in which you can only use your sniper rifle.

Some missions can get incredibly intense. You will find yourself flanked by enemy troops with tanks bearing down on you and mortar fire exploding in all direction. It takes everything you've got to plan out your method of attack and then carry it out. Of course this isn't a real-time strategy game so things change on the fly and you have to be prepared to adapt. No two missions are the same but they aren't so different from other games that they will feel like anything special. The balance of variety in the gameplay is designed to keep the player wondering what's next.

Visually, Strike Force is not a looker. Even the cutscenes display some stiff animation with emotionless faces. The music is good and the sound effects are very realistic. It's a pleasant experience to bask in the screams of the dying enemy. Overall, the production is somewhat dated. There is an online multi-player mode but it's just your standard frag fest and not really much of an incentive. You will extract the majority of your enjoyment from the single-player mode.

Commandos Strike Force Download Free Full Game is a first-person shooter video game and the fifth installment of the critically acclaimed Commandos series. It is developed by Pyro Studios and published by Eidos Interactive.

Released during the first months of 2006, the game makes a departure from the first four games. Although the missions are set up in a similar fashion (several different objectives, some to be achieved through stealth, others through use of force) and in most occasions the player is allowed to change between different characters, this is the first game in the series to apply a first-person perspective, like many other World War II-inspired games, in contrast to the overhead view of the earlier games. Hence, the game is far more similar to the Medal of Honor or Call of Duty games than to earlier entries of the series.

Plot

The game is split between three campaigns in France, Norway and Russia during World War 2. The first campaign is in France. It's October 1942 — a German sniffer dog detects an enemy nearby — a sniper from London, who reveals himself to be Lieutenant William Hawkins, of the OSS Strike Force consisting of the Green Beret, Captain Francis O'Brien from New York, himself and «the boss» Colonel George Brown, a German spy. (Each Character has different abilities such as the Green Berets ability to Dual wield Pistols and submachineguns, The Snipers scoped rifle and the Spies ability to wear Nazi Uniforms.)

Hawkins sneaks up with his sniper rifle and snipes the German troops stationed around the French village where he is heading for. Upon arriving the village he clears a farmhouse full of German soldiers and rescues three hostages within. He then sends Maurice, a French Resistance contact to the Green Beret's landing zone. In the plane carrying the Green Beret, one of the pilots go rogue, shoots the other pilot and kills nearly everyone else on the plane before the Green Beret overpowers and kills him. The plane explodes after he jumps out. The Green Beret covers the landing of some allied soldiers and a wounded Captain before blowing up a bridge. Earlier that evening, Brown had made contact with a Resistance member named Pascal and destroyed Nazi trucks and AA guns. They soon realize that there has to be a Nazi informer among their ranks which builds tension between O'Brien and Brown. O'Brien suspects Brown himself is the informer. Brown later takes on another task when he liberates a French doctor to help a wounded resistance member, he also helps the resistance even more when he steals explosives from a train yard, sabotages the railroad tracks and kills the garrison commander in a Bordello. The next campaign takes the Green Beret, the Sniper and the Spy to Norway where Green Beret and Sniper are locked in a deadly fight with the Germans. Upon eliminating all the Germans in the area, the Spy Goes ahead and destroys a German patrol boat and steals one of their trucks. Covered in the darkness of night the Sniper and the Spy prepare for a surprise attack on the town's Nazi garrison. The Sniper moves up to a high building, gets to the attic and signals the Spy with his torch. The Spy receives the signal, moves up to the bridge on the far side of the town and neutralizes explosives set by the Germans. Again he moves to the farther corner of the town and upon taking control of the radio, sends the radio signal to Green Beret to initiate the strike. After a heavy battle, the town is captured by the commandos and the Norwegian resistance members. But the following morning, the Nazis started a full-scaled invasion sending massive reinforcements supported by mortar strikes and Panzer Tanks which the Green Beret and the Sniper successfully repel.

The final campaign takes the commandos to Stalingrad, Russia. Led by a certain Russian Officer named Salenkov, the commandos head for a Nazi garrison through the sewers. They soon realize it's a trap, and the Spy, disguised as a Nazi soldier, out of compulsion, acts to arrest Green Beret and Sniper and let them taken to the garrison as prisoners. He then makes his way to the garrison using stealth and disguise and rescues both of them. While attempting to plan their escape, he sneaks through the window and recognizes Salenkov as the Nazi informer. The Spy, prior to stealing a truck and escape along with his comrades, came to Green Beret and Spy, revealing the true identity of the treacherous Salenkov and managed to kill him. When boarding the truck, Green Beret apologized to the Spy for suspecting him to be the German informer. The Spy reveals to him that he is indeed a German, but he «detests the Nazis, and all they stand for». The Green Beret and The Sniper then manages to bring much damage to the Nazi forces and armors present in that area separately. The Sniper takes out most of the high-ranking officers by his deadly marksmanship and the Green Beret destroys tanks and artillery. In the final phase of the campaign, there is a final heavy Nazi attack to the Allied positions and the Green Beret and the Sniper fights them back gallantly. The game ends with a dog coming to the Spy, wagging it's tails and the three commandos, joking and laughing among themselves, celebrating and rejoicing their victory over the German War Machine. Reception

The game was met with mixed reactions,[4] especially from those coming from fans of the earlier games in the series. These fans felt that Strike Force lacked the trademark difficulty of the previous games. Similarly, it was promoted as mixing elements of strategy from the past games with traditional first-person shooter gameplay, but instead only hinted them while being predominantly action oriented.
