Wait A Minute! This Isn't Metal! - March 2020
by RaduP, musclassia, nikarg, Darkside Momo, Abattoir 18.04
We here at Metal Storm pride ourselves on our thousands of metal reviews and interviews and article; metal is our collective soul and passion, which is why we bother with this junk. That being said, we'd be lying if we stuck to our trve-kvlt guns and claimed that metal is the only thing we ever listen to. Whether we want to admit it or not, we do check out some other stuff from time to time; some of us are more poptimistic than others, but there's a whole world out there aside from Satan-worshiping black metal and dragon-slaying power metal.

Getting Into: Agalloch
by RaduP 29.03
Agalloch was my favorite band for a really, really long time, and maybe they still are, maybe not, but I'll always appreciate them for the importance they've had in shaping my musical taste. Having thankfully seen them at one of their last-ever performances is probably one of my proudest lacks of regret, if that makes sense. Deciding to write my first Getting Into, there was really no second-guessing as to which band I would dedicate it to.

Abattoir's Concert Hunt - Round 35 & 36 (Concert Review)
by Abattoir 27.03
The next edition of the concert blog series is here again, getting close to an inevitable end. It's two gigs reviews as usual, this time mixing the genres a little bit. Australian melodic hardcore / punk rock performers Clowns have the first word; the next stop, which was (coincidentally) on the same day as the first one, features the American stoner doom destroyers Conan.

Metal Storm is an NES game by Irem where you basically play as Captain Viridian's mecha ancestor.

  • 2Regional Differences

Level Select

The Game Genie code YASNUKZA enables a level and powerup select. Press Up and Down to select a level, or Left and Right to select a powerup (the five sets of letters will change depending on what powerup you select). The powerups, from left to right, are None, Shield, Gravity Fireball, Armor, and Power Beam. Press Start to enter the selected level, or hold A and press Start to start with the Armor in addition to whatever powerup you selected.

Regional Differences

To do:
  • Palette and difficulty changes, other things?
  • Translation of intro text.

Dummied-out Intro

The Japanese version of Metal Storm contained a neat little intro sequence, which was disabled in the US version. However, the code was left mostly intact, and can be re-enabled using the Game Genie codes SNKEPULO and OOKEZLVP. The only things removed were a 'TAMTEX' logo (the division of Irem that developed the game), a few screens of Japanese text, and the tiles for an exploding planet animation, which suggests that Irem originally planned to keep the intro. Why it was ultimately disabled is anyone's guess.

The Tamtex copyright was also removed from the US title screen, leaving only the Irem copyright. Colin mcrae rally download.

Different Ending

In the Japanese version, the last boss says 'You will die with me..' after you defeat him. Also, the epilogue, while still in English, is completely different from the one in the USA version. Finally, the credits list in the Japanese version has one name that was very strangely removed in the USA version: Hiroshi Futami (Producer).
